Don’t call it a comeback. The world-famous Bitter End Yacht Club, beloved to cruisers, charter guests, and vacationers in the British Virgin Islands, has reopened after Hurricane Irma, even better than before.
This winter, Chesapeake Bay Magazine traveled to the BVIs on a mission to find out why island charters are so popular with Chesapeake Bay boaters. The charter industry says some of their largest client base comes from the mid-Atlantic.
We had the chance to spend time at the Bitter End’s incredible resort with its iconic beach bar and private, swim-up bungalows. While the property was devastated by 2017’s powerful hurricane, the owners have salvaged everything they could—in a downright artistic way— to create a new nautical village.
