Boat Captain-Musician Duo To Perform in Deltaville

Americana, Country, Roots artists (and longtime sailors), Mike & Amy Aiken Band, will deliver their upbeat, breezy tunes for their 2nd Annual Kick Off Summer on the Southern Bay concert on Sunday, May 29 from 4-6 p. m. at the Deltaville Maritime Museum (DMM).

The event, sponsored by Deltaville Boatyard and Marina on Jackson Creek, celebrates the start of the spring boating season on Memorial Day weekend on the Chesapeake Bay with proceeds benefitting the DMM. Chesapeake Bay Media is a proud media sponsor of the festivities.

The event is designed to combine the Aikens’ honest tunes and tall tales of seasoned songwriters and sailors with Deltaville, one of the Bay’s favorite Bay boating destinations.

Mike and Amy have been living on sailboats and sailing for over 30 years and their songs reflect their love and understanding of the waters of Chesapeake Bay and beyond.

These life partners and sea captains have logged over 30,000 Bluewater miles sailing their boat from Nova Scotia to Europe to the Caribbean and beyond.

They have crossed the seas and crisscrossed countries sharing the music born of the experience, said Mike. “Many of our songs are inspired by our love of the sea and from the seafaring folk we have met along the way,” he said.

Together they have produced seven nationally and internationally recognized albums, one of which was Grammy-nominated. They have appeared in concert venues, clubs and festivals across North America and Europe. “We particularly like the venue in Deltaville,” said Amy. “The Deltaville Maritime Museum has a wonderful stage and facilities for the concert to go along with the communities amazing maritime heritage.”

Mike and Amy will bring the full band and will cover their 30-year career of ‘Americana, Country and Roots with an ocean view’ style of music. On stage will feature acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, fiddle, bass, drums, percussion and harmony vocals in a beautiful outdoor venue.

Tickets are $10 advance / $15 day of and can be purchased online or by calling 804.776.7200. You could also win tickets from Chesapeake Bay Media. Just follow us on Facebook (@ChesapeakeBayMagazine) and comment on this story post. Tag one friend in your comment and you’ll be entered to win!

Slips are available at the Deltaville Marina on Jackson Creek and are in walking distance of the venue.
