Boater Drowns on Rhode River

The body of a man missing from his boat Sunday afternoon was pulled from the Rhode River near Locust Point in Harwood, Maryland.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department says the man was reported missing in the water around 3:40 p.m. Sunday. A 911 caller said he jumped off a yacht to retrieve a dinghy that had come loose from the boat. The caller said he went underwater and didn’t resurface. The boat was about 150 yards offshore at the time, according to fire department spokesman Capt. Russ Davies.

Anne Arundel Fire, Maryland Natural Resources Police, Maryland State Police, and the Coast Guard responded, and divers found the man’s body just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
