Can You Canoe? Students to Compete on Susquehanna River

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) is calling all high schoolers to canoe the Susquehanna River this Saturday. And all you have to bring is your paddling muscles.

CBF’s Pennsylvania Student Leadership Council is holding its third annual Canoe Classic competition in Lancaster County. CBF will provide all boats, paddles, and life jackets for any students ages 14-18 who want to participate.

The free, timed competition features prizes, live music, and educational exhibits. Instead of a registration fee, CBF is asking students to “commit to an action or advocacy project to help clean up and protect Pennsylvania’s rivers and streams.”

The Canoe Classic is Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. at Columbia Crossing River Trails Center, 41 Walnut Street in Columbia, Pennsylvania. The Classic is part of the Riverlands Trail Festival and Lancaster Water Week.
