CBM’s Cruise Guide Returns with 50th Anniversary Edition

After more than four years’ hiatus, Chesapeake Bay Media announced the return of Chesapeake Bay Magazine‘s Guide to Cruising the Chesapeake Bay. This 50th Anniversary edition of the venerable cruising guide will be offered for pre-sale, to be released in 2023.

The Cruise Guide gives boaters the chance to discover more places to go and things to do on this iconic body of water.

What began from humble beginnings in 1972 as a collection of articles from Bay Magazine launched a lifestyle for many boaters on the Chesapeake.

Considered a bible for exploring the nation’s largest estuary, the Guide begins in the north with the C&D Canal and takes boaters through nearly all the Chesapeake’s creeks, coves, bays, and towns for more than 200 miles south to the Atlantic Ocean. Whether it’s the beautiful bluffs near Elk Neck up north or the cypress trees that guard the mysterious Chickahominy River down south, you’ll find maps and detailed information on hundreds of marinas, anchorages, restaurants, and more than 30 ports of call. Readers can trust the Guide, knowing that editors have personally visited every place covered in the more than 300 pages of the book.

All the Bay’s iconic ports are here, like Baltimore, Annapolis, St. Michaels, Oxford, Solomons, Hampton, Portsmouth, as well as lesser-traveled places, such as Chesapeake City, Cambridge, Cape Charles, and Yorktown. There are walking tours and points of interest ashore. There are also suggestions for three- to five-day cruises in every part of the Bay.

Clear, concise and complete, this is the Bay’s most praised and sought-after cruising guide.

Chesapeake Bay Media CEO Capt. John Martino said, “CBM’s Guide to Cruising the Chesapeake Bay is literally back by popular demand. We have been receiving calls and emails almost every week for more than two years asking when we would be offering the Guide.”

Published by the staff of Chesapeake Bay Magazine, the special 50th Anniversary edition will be produced in a single press run of just 500 copies in spring 2023. New with the purchase of this edition, boaters get access to a limited, members-only section of chesapeakebaymagazine.com dedicated to cruisers.
