A Coast Guard helicopter and two boats searched for the boy for 13 hours, covering a 44-square-mile area. Two different sheriff’s offices and three fire departments helped in the search.
The Coast Guard suspended the search at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
“The decision to suspend a search is a difficult one to make,” said Coast Guard Captain Rick Wester, commander, Sector Hampton Roads. “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the boy’s family during this difficult time.”
