A 48-year-old man left to go fishing out of Rehoboth Bay on a 24′ boat on Monday, Aug. 26, but never returned home.
Family members reported Dorian Yanke overdue on Wednesday, Aug. 28, after missing a call Tuesday night. He was last heard from around 7:30 a.m. Monday the 26th, when he told a family member he was going on a fishing trip near Rehoboth Bay.
The Coast Guard says Yanke was last seen leaving Indian River outlet on his 24-foot Hydra Sports boat, intending to go fishing offshore. The boat is described as being white with black detailing on the side and black case covers over the engine.
The Coast Guard launched a large-scale search for Yanke along the Delaware coast. It included the Cutter Richard Snyder and boats from Stations Cape May and Indian River Inlet along with aircraft from Air Station Elizabeth City and Air Station Atlantic City
Over three and a half days, they covered 14,984 square miles. After 88 total search hours, the Coast Guard has suspended its search pending further information.
Yanke is described as a 48 year-old white male, 6 foot 1 inch tall and approximately 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a tan shirt, navy shorts, and a navy ball cap.
