UPDATE: The Naval Academy campus’ phone service was restored Thursday, and the internet and email servers were back up and running Friday morning, a full three days after all IT services were lost.
Original story:
The U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis is working to fix an outage that has knocked out phone, internet and email service throughout the campus.
On Twitter, the Academy said, “At approximately 7am this morning the Naval Academy experienced an electrical equipment casualty in the data center in Ward Hall.”
That affected a server that is responsible for IT services across campus.
Naval Academy IT is working to restore services, with phones as the first priority, then internet and the email server. The Academy estimates it could take anywhere from two to12 hours to get communications back to normal.
