Weekly Seminar: Nietzsche, The Gay Science
April 1, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
$180In his book, The Gay Science, Nietzsche famously observes, God is dead. The death of God signifies that the project of science or rationality that began with Socrates has run its course. Modern science belongs to this now exhausted period of human genealogy. Nietzsche moves from an exposure of the deficiencies of modern science or rationality to an elucidation of a new kind of philosophy. This philosophy, which he names joyful or gay science, emerges from the fullness of life, strength and overflow rather than from neediness, weakness of absence.
