The Coast Guard has been searching for a fisherman, missing since Wednesday evening, on the Potomac River in the area of Cobb Island.
The Charles County Fire Department received a report of an overdue fisherman and multiple agencies launched to search for him. The Coast Guard launched a boat crew from Station St. Inigoes, along with a helicopter crew. Maryland State Police, Natural Resources Police, the Cobb Island Fire Department, St. Mary’s County Volunteer Fire Department, and Towboat Cobb Island also helped in the search.
Towboat Cobb Island later found the fisherman’s boat aground on the shoreline of Westmoreland County, Va., on the other side of the river.
USCG says it ramped up its search efforts with Coast Guard Cutter Bonito along with a Naval Air Station Patuxent River aircrew.
