Free Holiday Projects for Young Teens at Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels is offering an opportunity for young teens to come in and craft holiday gifts…for free!

The two-day holiday gift-making workshops are hosted by the museum’s Rising Tide After-School Boatbuilding Program. They take place between Thanksgiving and winter breaks, on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dates are set for November 27 and 29, December 4 and 6, December 11 and 13, and December 18 and 20.

The projects include possible holiday gifts like a cutting board or a decorative light. They’re best-suited for students from sixth grade to tenth grade. Interested students should pre-register by emailing [email protected], or by clicking here.

The Rising Tide After-School Boatbuilding Program offers other workshops and events through the year, including model-making, canvas building and painting. The program teaches basic boatbuilding skills with a goal to give students self-confidence and pride. Students gain skills in math, engineering, team building, and project management.
