Lynnhaven Fish House (and All Contents) Up for Auction

With the sale of the iconic Lynnhaven Fishing Pier in Virginia Beach goes the long-established Lynnhaven Fish House. The restaurant is up for auction on Tuesday.

It could be quite an opportunity for the right buyer. The Fish House’s owners are selling everything, from its name, logo, and website, to the tables and chairs, and pots and pans. Bids start at $1.

The auction begins Tuesday, January 23 at 9:30 a.m., both live at the restaurant at 23 Starfish Road and simulcast online by Atlantic Auction & Appraisal. It’s not too late for prospective bidders or curious neighbors to take a look at the offerings, with an auction preview offered Monday, January 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Lynnhaven Fish House official closed December 31, 2017. It had been open since 1979 and was known for its fresh fish and she-crab soup (served with a side of sherry).

Its closing came amid the sale of Lynnhaven Fishing Pier to a retirement community that plans to tear the pier down. The pier closed in November, because the owners couldn’t keep up with the storm damage costs caused by Hurricane Isabel in 2003, a November nor’easter in 2009, and Hurricane Matthew in 2016. The pier had been in operation for 61 years.
