Police have arrested a 19-year-old Anne Arundel County man after numerous reports of boat break-ins and kayaks going missing from local marinas and piers.
Daniel Francisco Bohle, of Glen Burnie, is charged with 40 counts, including felony theft and burglary and destroying serial numbers.
Bohle turned himself in after a year-long joint investigation by Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) and Anne Arundel County Police. The investigation started July 31, 2017, and the crime spree around Pasadena marinas and private piers continued through last summer and into the fall.
Police tracked down Bohle last September, driving a Dodge pickup truck in Edgwater with distinctive items in the back, like a cooler with fishing stickers on it. According to NRP, “Over time, officers were able to match the truck, owned by Bohle, to surveillance video taken at several marinas and the cooler to a boat owner whose vessel had been ransacked.”
Bohle’s trial is scheduled for Nov. 9 in Anne Arundel County District Court.
