Naptown Tap Brings Waste-Free Water to Chesapeake Bay Magazine Boat Show Tent

At last week’s U.S. Sailboat Show, you may have noticed a funny-looking contraption in front of Chesapeake Bay Magazine’s tent. Not much thicker than a promotional sign, the NAPTOWN TAP is a portable filtered water dispenser, for filling reusable water bottles and cups.

Annapolis Green’s Lynne Forsman demonstrates the NAPTOWN TAP

The nonprofit environmental group Annapolis Green came up with the NAPTOWN TAP to “cut the use of throwaway plastic water bottles to protect our waterways and our health, and to save money.”

The goal is to eliminate single-use water bottles, which Annapolis Green says are the second-most common polluting items in coastal cleanups—second only to cigarette butts.

Visitors walking by the Chesapeake Bay Magazine booth caught on quickly, with hot and sunny weather all weekend long. And the NAPTOWN TAP will be there for this weekend’s U.S. Powerboat show as well. Bring your water bottle for unlimited fill-ups through Sunday October 15. We’re near the Sailing Hall of Fame docks.
