Paddle Poker Run Puts Paddlers to the Test at Md. Seafood Festival

The race is on at the 50th Maryland Seafood Festival, now just a week and a half away. On the second morning of the festival, a family-friendly paddle competition or “poker run” kicks off. The 2017 Paddle for Betterment allows paddlers to decide just how competitive they want to be. The object is to paddle your kayak or standup paddleboard on courses that will vary in difficulty to collect playing cards.

All participants will enjoy festival admission, free parking, and two drink tickets to be used at the post race ceremony. Competitors can bring their own boards or kayak or can rent a paddleboard in advance by contacting [email protected] (no board rental sign-ups on race day).

It costs $45 per participant; 18 and under must have an adult present at the seafood festival; 12 and under must have an adult accompanying them on the water, either on the same watercraft or on a separate watercraft paddling with them.

The Paddle for Betterment takes place Sunday, September 10, bright and early at 9:30 a.m.
