New Depth Layer Expands Argo’s Ability to Create Safe & Reliable Navigation Routes for Boaters
BELCAMP, MARYLAND
Argo Navigation, the boating app for destination routing and connecting with other boaters, announces the release of a new robust depth layer that enables the use of more sources of depth data to create safer and more reliable navigation routes. The Argo boating app is free to use and currently has a community of over 40,000 active boaters across the U.S. and Canada who rely on Argo for navigation and social boating features to improve their boating experience.
The initial version of the new Argo depth layer includes data from both NOAA and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (USACE), and in the future will be expanded to include data for lakes, rivers and Canadian waters. Argo’s new depth layer also has a new look for improved visibility, featuring bolder depth numbers and vibrant color gradients highlighting both shallow and deep water.
Boaters use the Argo app to autoroute voyages which creates a custom route based on a boat’s draft, making navigation safer and easier. There is also an option to manually plot routes or navigate using the app’s NOAA ENC Chart. Argo’s robust Captain’s Log tracks planned or past voyages, favorite destinations and more.
“Our new depth layer makes Argo’s custom routing more reliable and scalable as we continue to
add new sources of depth data for boaters along the coasts, Great Lakes and the numerous inland lakes and rivers throughout the U.S. and Canada,” says Jeff Foulk, founder of Argo Navigation. “The new depth layer platform also enables us to offer more boat customization features and expand our API integration capability for future partnerships in the marine industry.”
Argo continues to release frequent updates to the app with enhanced navigation and social features for boaters. Recent updates include finding friends by marina & yacht club affiliations, ETA sharing while navigating, color-coded routes for safety, estimated fuel usage for planned routes & during voyages, improved search capability of popular destinations and more detailed voyage data in the Captain’s Log.
Argo is available to download for free for phone or tablet on the App Store or Google Play.
