A woman has lost her life in a sailboat accident Saturday afternoon on the Chester River.
The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) say they responded to the river near the area of Camp Pecometh in Centreville, Md. after reports of a fatal boating incident.
Police say a sailboat was operating under power in the Chester when it hit a large wake and all three people on board were ejected from the boat.
According to police, the boat then circled and struck a 47-year-old woman. The woman died from her injuries.
The other two boaters who had gone overboard were taken back to shore by a good Samaritan.
Police say the incident is still under investigation and the information they shared with Bay Bulletin is preliminary. We’ll bring you any updates to this case we receive.
