Schooner Woodwind Looking for Crew

Sailing a 74-foot wooden schooner for a living sounds like not a bad gig. And it could be your gig this boating season.

Schooner Woodwind Sailing Cruises, based at Annapolis City Dock, is hiring crew to work aboard its boats, customer service reps to sell tickets, and dock hands to tie up boats at Pusser’s Grille.

Captain Jennifer Kaye says Schooner Woodwind is looking for both part-time and full-time employees to start immediately, and work through October.

The company is looking for crew for its two schooners, the Woodwind and the Woodwind II. Some sailing experience is required, along with experience working with the public. Because alcohol is served on cruises, only those 18 and older should apply. Captain Kaye also points out, it’s a great opportunity for those looking to rack up sea time for their captain’s license.

Customer service reps will sell tickets at the dock, and must have good computer and phone skills. Dock hands must have knowledge of docking procedures and be able to handle lines. They must also hold a safe boater’s license.

Schooner Woodwind Sailing Cruises is celebrating its 25th anniversary with special cruises this year, as Bay Bulletin reported last month. To apply for any of the cruise company’s open positions, click here.
