Two Men Die in Two Weeks When Boats Strike Markers

A Baltimore County man was killed Friday night in a boating accident near Sparrows Point, according to Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP).

NRP says the Dundalk man was aboard a boat that struck a day marker shortly after 10 p.m., and he was ejected from the boat.

He wasn’t wearing a life jacket, according to NRP. The Baltimore County Fire Department recovered the man’s body around 2 a.m., and the Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy.

The death comes less than two weeks after another boat crashed into a marker on the Severn River, killing another man. NRP identified that victim as 51-year-old Daniel Youngblood from Severna Park.

The most recent death marks seven boating fatalities on the Chesapeake Bay so far in 2018.
