Volunteers young and old are taking to the docks around the Baltimore harbor. They’re helping to raise baby oysters that will grow all winter long, then be moved to a protected oyster reef.
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Baltimore’s Healthy Harbor Initiative recently hosted two public workshops to teach people how to “foster parent” the oyster spat for the next nine months.
The Great Baltimore Oyster Partnership aims to plant five million oysters in the Patapsco River by 2020. Cheryl Costello shows us, the partnership is well on its way to that impressive goal.
