It’s not an everyday sight on the Bay: hundreds of standup paddleboards and kayaks on the horizon at the Bay Bridge on Saturday. Paddlers as young as elementary school joined the 2019 Bay Bridge Paddle despite the wind and chop. There were events for all ability levels, but the Elite Crossing took some competitors on a nine-mile course out and back from the Sandy Point Beach.
