VIDEO: Bay Seafood Sellers Shift to Direct Sales Amid Pandemic

From Bay to table, each step of the Chesapeake Bay seafood industry is taking a hit as COVID-19 prevention measures limit our chances to eat the local catch. Oyster farmers and seafood wholesalers are turning to direct-to-consumer sales to stay afloat (and keep watermen going as well). Cheryl Costello has a snapshot of some of the changes in how we can get our oysters, crabs and fish, including one seafood market where business is actually booming. Watch below:

UPDATE: The Maryland Department of Agriculture has put together this handy map of seafood distributors who are selling direct to consumers, including “True Blue” Maryland crabs (the map also shows Maryland farmer’s markets).
