A terrifying, chaotic scene in the Chesapeake Bay off Tolchester Beach a couple of weeks ago has shed light on the serious risk of propeller strikes. When a man jumped in to try and help his friend out of the water, he was severely cut up by the still-turning prop. Thankfully, two good Samaritans from a boat in the area were able to rescue both victims in that case.
But it’s a reminder to all boaters never to jump into the water when the engine’s still on. Cheryl Costello speaks to Natural Resources Police and the boat captain who helped keep the story from turning even more tragic. Watch below:
