Bay boaters love a good excuse to meet up on the water: raft-ups, fireworks displays, watching sailing races, you name it. On Eastern Bay this month, boaters came out to watch a different kind of event.
The sturdy oyster-planting vessel Robert Lee motored out south of Kent island, loaded with 18 million oyster spat-on-shell. Those oysters were shot at high speed into the water at the site of a historic reef.
