Aquaculture is a rapidly-growing business on the Bay, much to the delight of Maryland oyster-eaters. And Hoopers Island Oyster Co. in Dorchester County is one of the biggest and best-known Chesapeake Bay oyster farms.
But they do more than raise the oysters that end up on restaurant menus: the company is making aquaculture equipment for oyster farmers across America and around the world—some as far away as Japan.
