VIDEO: Mallows Bay Celebrates Marine Sanctuary Milestone

The Potomac River’s ghost fleet of World War I vessels is a piece of living history, and there’s finally a National Marine Sanctuary designation to show for it.

To celebrate Mallow Bay’s milestone, NOAA, the state of Maryland, and Charles County are inviting the public out for a day of paddle tours and history later this month.

Cheryl Costello recently got up close to the ghost fleet in a kayak, alongside the state archaeologist. She shares the real significance of this federal recognition. Watch below:
