The hallmarks of Christmas are hard to come by on Tangier Island. Holiday greenery doesn’t grow on the low-lying island. And many typical holiday goodies aren’t sold there.
With limited access to the mainland, even a candy cane is a special treat for children on Tangier. That’s where a group of volunteer pilots step in, rallying together to bring festive greenery and other items to island residents.
