VIDEO: Tangier Island Gets Special Santa Deliveries by Plane

The hallmarks of Christmas are hard to come by on Tangier Island. Holiday greenery doesn’t grow on the low-lying island. And many typical holiday goodies aren’t sold there.

With limited access to the mainland, even a candy cane is a special treat for children on Tangier. That’s where a group of volunteer pilots step in, rallying together to bring festive greenery and other items to island residents.

Cheryl Costello flew along at 3,300 feet for the 50th annual Holly Run, to bring us a bird’s-eye view.
