VIDEO: Up Close with Osprey: Guests Join Banding Trip

The osprey is a treasured resident of the Chesapeake Bay, and most of us feel lucky to watch one swoop into the water and pluck a fish out with its talons.

Thanks to a research program on the Patuxent River, some people get to encounter osprey even closer up. Guests hit the water this June in a series of banding excursions with naturalists who are keeping track of the birds’ patterns.

Cheryl Costello joined the latest excursion, where guests were from the National Aquarium, and even those marine professionals were in awe of their up-close experience with the osprey. Watch below:
