It takes dedicated volunteers to help the Bay’s river organizations to collect samples and data on the health of our tributaries. But a new program is arming volunteers with camera rigs to peek underwater and find out how oyster reefs are thriving. The Smithsonian Environmental Research Center is engaging boaters and other volunteers on the Severn, Herring Bay, and the mid-Eastern Shore.
